Obligatory “first post” post

Typo seems to have installed without any effort for a few other people I’ve asked, and instructions on a couple pages for installing it on Dreamhost, though seemingly simple, gave me no love.

After no small amount of bashing my face into the keyboard, I started from scratch with a fresh installation. Lo and behold, it worked, without complaint, first try.

There’s some chance that the bit I was missing was a simple command line call to wipe out existing instances of dispatch.fcgi. If that’s really what was preventing Typo from working, then the following would have saved me a couple days of fruitless Googling and debugging:

killall -9 dispatch.fcgi

Moral of the story: if you think you’re making it harder than it needs to be, chances are pretty good you are.
